I am Cindy. I've been sewing since I was 5 years old — first sewing by hand making doll clothes and, at age 7, sewing my first entire dress. Although I didn't realize it at the time, it was a great leap of faith for my mother to allow me to use her cherished sewing machine. My mother believed in learning by doing. She would help or suggest if asked, but I did the sewing — and the unseeing! I still remember ripping out one shoulder what seemed like a hundred times and resewing it. But I finally finished it and wore it to school. I started quilting about 2007. Sewing and quilting is, for me, the equivalent of meditation.
My sister is Penny she has been writing since she was about 6 years old. She also learned to sew at an early age and has recently taken up quilting. She's my first test sewer after I think the instructions are correct. And then I find out I'm not clear enough in places or I assumed the sewer knew something she/he didn't and we hash out how I should fix it.
Together, we created the Murder and Mayhem Murder Mystery Quilt. I am the pattern designer and instruction creator and my sister is the creator of the murder mystery. We think it's a great story and a terrific quilt. Join us ... we promise to have fun this year!
Sometime in the near future we will open a brick and mortar bookstore and a quilt store — it's not many people who get to combine what they love into one business. We know we have been incredibly blessed!
